Spark, Fuel, Compression NO START! H22 swap
Wont start AGAIN!! I went to class for a couple of days came back cleaned up some of the wiring(it was all over the place) and tried to start it
NOW IT CRANKS AND STARTS, BUT DIES IMMEDIATELY AFTER(it was running two days ago!!)
before it would start and if you held the gas down for a while it would eventually start, now it starts but immediately dies
Things ive checked:
- compression # 181 181 152 195
- replaced fuel filter
- physically watched injectors fire
- checked coil for any black marks on the cover
- Timing(Fixed)
- Firing Order(Fixed)
- checked distributor wiring
- checked fuel rail for pressure - (has pressure)
- checked injectors for voltage (11.7v)
- removed intake manifold
- Removed injectors and tested them on another motor (injectors fired)
- checked spark (has spark)
- Fuel pump would only prime every once in a while, replaced main relay now it
primes all the time
- checked main relay grounds for continuity
-checked thermostat, tranny, engine grounds for continuity

Re: (csulliva)
i am using obd2 injectors which are saturated therefore able to use 12 volts
the ecu shouldnt have a problem firing them, incase i was wrong i tried some obd1 d15 injectors to see if they would fire but didnt get anything either

At this point, what possibilities are you considering?
Based on the information, I am thinking that (1) the injectors are somehow not receiving a signal from the ECU or (2) the fuel rail pressure is too low.

well i haven't checked the actual pressure since i dont have a guage( ill see if i can get one soon) as far as the ecu goes i have tried a chipped p28 with a h22 basemap, a p06, and a p28, i really dont think its the ECU,
So i was told the the CYP? sensor in my distributor could be bad since it controls when the injectors are suspost to fire, anyone have any direction on checking that (i.e voltage or ohms reading)

Re: (marcusgnf)
Have you checked timing, why are you using a distributor with differant internals?
The injectors are always hot when ignition is on, they are grounded by the ECU.

Re: (e46civic)
im using a hybrid dizzy, because i had two h22 dizzies that were missing parts and they were also external coil, i read in the h22 faq that you can use sohc internals inside your h22 dizzy with no problems as long as you use an h22 shaft
i will be checking some more things tomorrow, since i dont have class thanks for all the input

Re: (mechanix619)
Well i fixed the timing, tried to start it for a good hour, got a couple of backfires and such, said "F*** IT!" came back the next day started checking the resistance at my injectors(they were ok) tried to start it up and it ran?!!?
Im pretty sure it was the timing, still doesnt explain why it wouldnt start up the first time but whatever...hey it runs
