Dynamat does make a deadener that is more of a gooey compound; it has a foil backing instead of being a regular mat. I'd consider looking at Cascade's V Block products. I use their sprayable sound deadener whenever I want to quiet something down anymore. They do have a mat, too, that works very well. It also has no smell. Dynamat smells like tar when it gets hot and makes me sick....
If you are super budget minded, you can get some stuff called ice shield at local building supplies. It is a mat that has a Dynamat type base and it has a plastic shield over the top of it. Works decent as a deadener and it's rubber based. It's actually used to roll out on flat roofs.
