Default sorry for the n00b question but not sure what to search for.

I have been trying to decide on the engine that i want to put into my old 94 dx civic. I have been looking at various options starting at first with the b16, then i heard how they produce around as much torque as a d series, so then I looked into the b18c1. That motor looked really nice before i found out the price tag.

After all those I decided to go with a d16z6, build it and eventually go turbo. and while searching to find one online I ran into the d15b. Now I always thought that the d16z6 had a 1.6 right? But the d15b i was looking at said it had a 1.5 vtec, it also said it was out of a 92-95 ex. I always thought that the ex of that year had the d16z6. Am i wrong? What is the real difference and which is better to go turbo with? Thanks again, and sorry if there is a thread like this.

The 92-95 EX had the D16, 1.6. The 1.5 is a lower model. Personally, I always try to go with the biggest motor (within reason of course), and build on that.

So I should still stick with the d16z6? I really want the b18c1 and should prolly just save up for that, so I am not dissapointed in the long run.
But my old motor is burning oil and the tranny's syncros are going fast, and I need something besides what I have. How much more do you think I should look at spending on the d16z6 if the d15b i found was $450?
