Default sometings wrong with my breaks?? PLEASE HELP!!!

can someone tell me whats wrong with my breaks?? most of the time they work fine. but every once and a while it seems like there loose. when i hit the break pedal it goes almost all the way to the floor before the breaks start to slow down the car. then i let go of the break and there back to normal. this doesnt happen often almost like once a day but its pretty scary when you hit the break and noting happens when it should. any one know what this could be, i was thinkin maybe there could be air in the breaking lines or someting?

it might be time to replace the weary pads. try bleeding the brakelines to let go of unwanted air pressure(don't be like me, well my freind, don't open the cylinder if you're bleeding the lines, i don't know why he opened it, now this got me thinking). make sure the whole brake assembly is in good condition(ie. pistons, calipers, hoses etc.)
