sometimes car won't shift into gear on highway>>>>>>>>>>
this doesn't happen all the time but, sometimes when i am shifting into 3rd or 4th, or 5th it will fail to go into gear, i don't force it so it won't go in so i end up rev matching it sometimes it goes in sometimes it doesn't go in and my car slows down on the highway, which is very scarry. what's wrong with my gearbox?

synchro's are probably dead...look for a new tranny or be prepared to shell out $$ for a rebuild

collar not hitting synchro maybe? or the collar might have a bent tooth or flattened one or something. all my cousin did when his bent was grind it back and it works fine now.

well i don't have any access to any tools other than simple sockets tools, how much do shops do this kind of work?
