i doubt it to be syncros that would make that intense of a noise as he decribes, im not saying it cant be but to me if the tranny still shifts good then it would lead me to think that it is a bad wheel bearing, they make a reallly bad whinning noise when bad, the faster you go the louder the noise

Well, if it's a manual D series, they do it all the time. I had two or three transmissions back in my D series days that did that ****. They never blew up or anything...it was just annoying. The first trans, i had just abused...it shifted fine, but i always drove the car hard because i was 17, and thats what you do when you're 17 and your mom buys you a daily driver because your RWD car isnt safe for the winter. The other one i bought from my friend. He always shifted all hard on purpose like a jerk (he was aged 16-17.5 back when he had the car in running condition). He sold me the D16Z6 trans and all out of his del sol and it made the whining noise. It was super loud on downshifts, or decel, and kind of loud on acceleration. My Other friend had the same noise in his EG with a D15...he swapped fluid, pilot bearings, clutches, throwout bearings, all that **** with no luck....it's just the input shaft bearing. It seems to happen to cars that are shifted hard...like..clutch drops and such. Downshifted a lot, etc.
We all moved on to B16A2s, B18C1s and B18C5s respectively.
Just forget about it. It probably will never break, but it will continue to be annoying for the rest of your life.
Buy a B series.
