someone tried to steal my rims. ALARM SYSTEM?
hiya. this morning i saw that 3 of my lugs nuts were missing and the locking nut was stripped. i have a white 93 del sol. i was looking into getting an alarm with keyless entry for sometime now, but i've been lazy. now i don't have a choice.
what's a pretty good alarm system w/ a kill switch (doesnt start without the alarm being shut off). im located in socal. if any of you knows of a shop i can go to and get it installed, would greatly appreciate it.
** i don't know jack diddly squat about electrical :/ yeah i know, laugh it up.
thanks in advance and happy holidays!

Get it asap! Any dei two way pager alarm is good ie viper, clifford, hornet yada yada... Just make sure you get a stealth install ( not visible when car is entered). Also extra sensors like proximity(recomended), glass breakage, tilt sensor, back up battery ( highly recomended) etc. Check out the security and audio forum as deschlong mentioned.

Alarm with a tilt sensor would be a good start. MY alarm is sensitive enough that just jacking it up would set it off.
Edit: I now have a garage too. Nice to know how much more secure it is in there.
Edit2: Also nice to live in rural GA. So I can just be paranoid without much substantiation.

Make sure you get an alarm with enough inputs, at least 4 or 5, because the addons will require that. I had the mercury switch under the hood, proximity alarm, air horns from a tracker trailer under the hood, door unlocks and trunk release and the back up battery. I wouldn't have it stealth as in not seeing the alarm lights, but that it just me. I would however hide the valet switch and backup battery. My valet switch is near my fuse panel and the backup battery is inside the door panel. Also, I don't know about Del Sols, but on the EM1, you can release the hood by the lever behind the "H" emblem on the grill. I put some 3M tape over that so at lease they can't see where it was to try to release it. It helped that my car was black too.

Well Hidden is different per people's own perspective. Well-hidden to one person may be a backup battery attached to the underside of the car battery, which in turn would still allow theives to see a wire out of place going to the backup battery. My example, however allows the wires to accompany the stock wiring leading to the power locks and windows, which no thief would cut to gain access to your car, or steal items from it. I surely could of stated that "you need to place the backup battery in a place which would not draw attention to something out of the ordinary." But, didn't want to have to come back with examples of "out of the ordinary" in a reply. But, looks like I had to explain it out anyway doesn't it?

Wow.... I can't believe you all are getting would up about input locations, when there is NO WAY someone can stay under your hood long enough to follow wires to try to see which wire would either 1) stop the bull horns from causing you to go deaf or 2) try to find out which wire would stop the alarm from going off to stop the sound all together.

Mine was around 400ish (got a really really good deal) Normally 600+
My friends 50.7x, with back battery siren and tilt sensor was 900ish installed in his R.
They arent cheep, but you rarly find something good and cheap.
Best thing to do is go look aorund get some prices and post them up,

My basic one with just the alarm and door lock/unlock and trunk release was $300. The one I went all out on was $800 originally, then whatever the accessories were when I cam back like the mercury switch, but I think that was like a $30 addon.
