Rule # 1: NEVER post yours or a friend's VIN on a message board. You people have NO IDEA how easy it is to get keys from a VIN. I could take that VIN you posted of the Civic, take it to a honda dealer and tell them I needed an extra set of keys. They would make them for me, I could find out where you live, then go steal the car with very little effort. Don't EVER put a VIN on a board again!

But...why don't more cars get stolen alllll the time then.
Man...you could go to any mall, go get a key made, come back and take it.
Why would people break into cars then and steal them.
It must not be that easy.
I would hope......most dealers would require proof of ownership when using the vin.
I know the one time...I had to give proof of ownership just to order keys using the 4 digit key code!!!!!!!

It is easier and less obvious to track someone through the internet than to go prowling around the malls and following people to their houses.

You would hope most dealers would require proof of ownership, but MANY of them don't.

I tried it with my VIN at a dealership here in my city, and they agreed to get me a replacement key with no proof. I proceeded to chew them out for half an hour because anyone could have done that and taken my car.
