Default some tranny help please...

ok...these things have been going on for a little while now i figured i would turn to the experts. its simply an 00 b16 all stock with about 37k on it.

1st thing is sometimes(i feel this is the key word here) when rolling in a low gear(usually first or second) it is real jerky...kinda like when something round has an imperfection and it rolls funny...thats how the car feels. when i get off the gas if slows real hard and fast.

2nd thing is when i take it long distances(anything over 25 miles) the clutch slips pretty bad. today i literally had let the pedal all the way out and about 10 seconds later the clutch was fully engaged...today was the worst thats ever been.

ok...back to the sometimes thing. when none of these symptoms are showing...the car runs like a freaking dream. i have tried tracking weather conditions and the like and see no patterns of when it will or will not happen. anyone have any suggestions for what to look at first(besides fluid levels...already checked that)?

Its your clutch. Change it. Whoever had it before you burnt it the hell up.
Slipping badly....the jerking is your clutch not fully engaging....that clutch is definitely the culprit. If you change the clutch do it right....i.e. Flywheel resurfaced bearings inspected and shift leakage inspected.

hard question to answer...its different all the time. i always ease off the gas...i try and take it easy on the motor really...i never drive it super hard.

civic-si-2000, i have been reading about different clutches on here and i am still clueless as to what would be good for daily driving? i hear the OEM replacment is not worth it...but i want a close to stock pedal feel...can you recommend anything?

Exedy racing gets a From me...too bad my rear main blew and now I have to replace my 3-week old clutch because it's soaked in oil Make sure you do axle seals, rear main seal, input shaft seal, and everything else when you do your clutch! Don't make the same mistake I did!

i dont think u should bother with replacing the seals if you only have 37k on the motor.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=773349 this thread has the racing clutch for 225 shipped, id go with that.

Never be intimitated by your car. Just be sure to label your bolts and parts careful not to lose any and pu everything back together like it went. I had the fear once but when I was forced to do something myself because of lack of money I got over it. Just take your time and check your seals and everything. You can do it I believe in you
It it will become your first step into saving yourself hundreds of dollars down the rode.

If you have the money go ahead and get a lightned flywheel and new flex plate and throwout bearing. Don't know which brand but I'm sure someone will help you out. But if strapped for cash a clutch replacement wouldn't hurt you it's just better to do it right the first time. If it's slipping pretty badly that flywheel might look pretty nasty. That will be the only thing you couldn't do yourself. But w/ a new one you wounldn't need too. If your throwout bearing is good you don't have to replace it, but as a rule of thumb most mechanics do. Good Luck with whichever path you choose.

thanks for all the info guys...i feel much better about it now as for the flywheel...i know you guys are hardcore about getting the performance stuff but i CAN mate the OEM replacement exedy with my stock flywheel and pressure plate correct? i wasn't sure if the clutch and pressure plate come together for that price or not...all i know is what i see on here...everyone always has both new. most places that resurface flywheels can have them same day right? i have removed a transmission off of a d-series but it was outside the car...is it significantly harder when it is still in the car? i am going to search around for clutch related posts and see what i can dig up...thanks again guys.
