Default some quick b18c5 questions

i currently have a ls-v in my 94 coupe dx, it just has e/h/i clutch n flywheel with a b16 trans it runs pretty nice but i got offered a b18c5 for a good price plus my motor n he would swap it for me but i would have to use my b16 trans

here are the dumb questions i have

will i feel a big difference with a stock b18c5 over my ls-v?
since i have a b16 trans would i be able to take it up to 9k safely if the ecu doesnt have a rev limiter?
i also got offered a Ls trans for my b16 trans which 1 would be better for the c5?
i found a stock exhaust for my car for 15 bucks, how much power would i be losing if i ran the stock axle back wit the b18c5 ?

the reason im asking these questions are ive been watching dyno vids of b18c5 and its kinda of disappointing 170-180 whp 120-130 tq

The car would just be my DD and i dont drag race or anything maybe a highway pull here and there so please help me with whatever info u have would be appreciated

Keep what you have now. Certainly don't trade your engine AND money for the ITR engine. You're not going to make power all the way up to 9,000 RPMS with a stock B18C5, so that shouldn't be something you're basing your decision on. The LS transmission has longer gearing and will be good for gas mileage, but will be slower for acceleration.

my jdm itr motor dyno'ed at 181whp it feels fast as explative.. 170-180whp are good numbers you would be suprised.. my jdm itr tranny (being 97 spec) has the same gear ratio and i believe that is a perfect ratio for that setup (NA).. that said

yes if it is a good running engine (170-185 whp) then you will see a difference. they have much better cams, valve springs, pistons, etc.

you would be able to take it to 9k rpms reliably with the ITR motor because of the dual valve springs that the ITR engines have, YET you would not be making power that high so it is rather pointless.

go with the b16 tranny

the stock axle back will rob you of a few whp but from personal experience its the header that makes the biggest difference..

btw i wouldnt be suprised if your ls-vtec was only putting out 150-160ish whp

internally the b18c5(type r)is hand assembled and has been port and polished on the head and has dual valve springs and better valves and etc..the b18c5 will be decent with the b16 tranny..

are you sure about that?

to the OP, i would probably just stick with what you have unless your current motor is having problems. your ls-v has slightly more displacement than an ITR motor does and can make more power than a stock ITR will. you should ask the guy why he wants to trade you his motor...

for what it's worth, my JDM ITR motor didn't make anymore power at approx. 7800rpm on dyno (at the time, it had intake, header, exhaust).

thanks for ur help guys...i dont feel as if anything is wrong with my motor, its just i feel as if my motor is a ticking bomb it can just blow on me anytime and i dont feel safe driving far....but basically my lsv b18a1/b16a plus 1300 for a b18c5 wit buddy club stage 3 cams and aem cam gears and greddy timing belt swapped.... after reading some of the stuff that u guy said i think im just gonna go wit the itr and just let it be, i would feel more proud of my self having a itr but than 1300 is alot that i can put into that lsv, its just that face that he is willing to swaped it out for me and do everything which is making me feel comfortable
