Default Solid CEL (Search down!)

I have a solid cel...wtf does that mean?
The car became very jerky on and off throttle, because of it.
I was not limited in rpm.

This happened awhile after I followed some POS car up an on-ramp, that blew basically soot out its exhaust. Could this be the only reason?

do you mean it came on solid, or it stayed solid when you jumped the connector?

How does the car run if the ECU is fried? Is there one last backup MAP on a circuit that is unused normally?

it doesn't have to be completely fried. I had a bad chip one time, got the solid cel. Car ran, but ran like complete crap.

I went out and reset the ecu (interesting thing to do at school) and the car starts and seems to run fine.
I drove it around the lot and no probs, but I havent taken it on the road yet....I'll be doing that around 10pm after class...

No, that means there are no stored trouble codes. The ecu is fine.

is the check engine light on without the jumped connector. if it is you should be able to get a code. if no codes probably ecu. if light is off without jumper you shouldn't get any codes. ecu is fine
