Default Sol Wont Start

Ok heres the senerio, bought the sol and it was running. i tore the entire engine a part for a rebuild and was ready to start the car and get it back on the road, but now it wont start.....

It cranks over normally has some exhaust fumes coming out, but will not fire. i have already checked spark plugs and they work, fuel is good, pump is working, valves are adjusted properly, all fuses are good and i have no check engine light to look for a code?

does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Have you checked whether you have bright spark at all of the plugs?

Is the CEL ON?

Have you double checked the mechanical timing?

Have you measured the cylinder compressions?

Click here to learn about CEL.

Do you hear the fuel pump prime for 2 seconds when you turn the key to ON(II)?

What year?

Does the CEL work?

Do you measure battery voltage at the fuel injectors with the key in ON(II)?

Are the fuel injector connectors installed in the correct order?

Are the plug wires installed in the correct firing order on the distributor cap?

Yes the CEL does work but its not throwing any codes

i did not measure voltage at the injectors but the injectors are shooting fuel.

Yes the order is correct

the plug wires are in the correct order according to the haynes Manuel

Double check your mechanical timing. The cam and crank are likely out of synch at TDC1.

according to that picture my timing is right but is it possible that its 180 degrees out?

If the cam and crank are synchronized at TDC1 as shown in the diagram, then the timing is fine. I'm not sure, however, whether it is possible to install the distributor 180-degrees out of phase. You might want to check that. If the distributor is fine, then compression test the cylinders. Is it possible that you have flooded the engine? Does the engine oil have a strong smell of gasoline? If so, drain and refill.

Drain the engine oil and refill with new oil.

Draining old Engine oil will drain the gas out of the cylinders?

Pull out the spark plugs. Are they wet with gas? Do you see free standing gasoline in the cylinders? If so, drain/dry out the cylinders and then replace the engine oil, which may have been thinned by flooding from gasoline. Thinned oil is less viscous and will lead to low cylinder compression.
