SOHC ZC ENGINE??
Hey i ordered a new SOHC vtec engine for my civic when i threw a rod though the block. i ordered a D16Y8 but they sent me a SOHC ZC. I installed it and it is pretty nice, and runs good. anyone know anything about this SOHC ZC engine? is it good?
i mean the engine stamp only says ZC nothing else. Wierd. i have heard of the DOHC ZC eninges in japan, that come stock in the SI's but never a SOHC ZC. let me know guys.

Re: (TrAnCeD_RaCeR)
the obd0 zc came in the 84-97 crx and civic si's. there were cab'd and fi versions of this engine. no vtec. basicaly the same a d16a6 that came in our 88-91 si's. after that were the dohc zc that came in the 88-91 si's.then there are the obd1 zc that do exist that came in the 92-95 civic and del-sol si's. they are stage one vtec and make 130ps, which in hp is about 128. they are basicaly a d15b vtec, but a 1.6. this is what i know, if im wrong correct me so i can know, but this is what my knowledge consists of.

Re: (a1320honda)
The SOHC ZC i got is definatly vtec, it came with the vtec valve cover(not that it matters) and it had the solenoid. Another thing is i sure can hear it kick in.

Re: (after_effx)
it's the Japanese version of D16Z6, like others have stated.
I've compared both cams- almost identical
pistons are stamped p28 also
heads are same
etc etc
it's a good engine....what I've been rolling on for the past while. Pulled my friend on the freeway- identical setups: 94 Civic Si, gutted, Autopower cage vs 93 DX, gutted, Autopower cage.....same trannies, no bolt ons, but he had a D16Z6
