whats the differnce bewteen a 92-95 sohc vtec ans 96+ sohc vtec?
OBDII vs OBDI.
Stronger syncros in the tranny
Slightly better comusbtion chamber design.
SLIGHTLY better cam on the Y8 (if that is the only reason for the engine don't bother)
Better intake manifold
2 o2 sensors vs. 1 o2 sensor.
Usually have less milage than the Z6's.

its not the syncros that are stronger, but the forks are.
the chamber is nicer, but the head doesnt flow as well (go figure).
the intake manifold is better than the z6, but you wont notice the difference.
i have heard rumors that the y8 block has oil starvation issues (but these were rumors)
the distributor is going to be differnet... but that shouldnt matter. you should be able to just swap it and use your p28 ecu with no issues.

so let me get this straight, you can use the Y8 in a 92-95 civic and use the OBDI ECU from a Z6 and have no problems?
are there any complications at all for swaping in the Y8 into a 92-95 civic?

ditto. the z6 head flows better at high rpm. so if you plan bolt ons and a cam the z6 is the way to go.
there was a thread on the dseries forums where zexman tested both heads. the y8 made power down low, but dropped off early and the z6 made power up high. this was also dont with a reworked y8 (because its designed for swirl)
