SOHC vtec rides, looking for some advice
I have a 94 dx coupe, and looking to upgrade my engine. I want a b series, but I don't think I can afford one (college student + no job = poor). Yes, I could get a job, but I'm lazy and involved with a bunch of other stuff at school.
Just wanted to know what kind of times you guys run at the tracks, and what kind of setup you're running. Can sohc vtecs be fast? I'm looking to get up to 200hp, but don't know if that's possible. Any advice?

Nitrous. Run a 50 shot. Do this with a d16y8 intake manifold, LS throttle body, intake, header and exhaust, and you should run high 14's given everything is all gravy. But the first thing to do would be a EX/Si tranny

Get a z6 for super cheap. Trust me no matter how many talkers there are for dual cams. Trust me the z6 is plenty fun! Time for mine is below and was pulled on the skinny 13" steelies. But hey they always seem to pull my best times.

Start researchin home made turbo projects. The site homemadeturbo.com is down now i think but theres plenty more. If you have any questions on it let me know i can probably help you out.

FRom seeing articles and post on Hybrid. Of poor customer service to puting one on a b16 and watching how bad heat soak can kill performance. I'd say stay away from JRSC's. I haven't even drove or installed one on a d16 but have read plenty of articles of people not happy with them. Of course there are people that have got them tuned and running impressive. I would suggest lookign other directions first from my view.

Check out the F-max turbo setup. It was putting out 225 bhp @ 12 psi on a 96 Civic EX. Here's the link:
http://www.f-max.com/D16A%20VTEC%20DYNO.htm
The only downside here is the price. I think it was like $3800 through some website.

Re: SOHC vtec rides, looking for some advice (gleinz)
It is possible to make a SOHC vtec fast...JG has some nice built SOHCs...putting out like 160 whp the least and up to like 200+ max...i think SOHC's are worth building for the budget racer....Not all of us can pick up a B series...for one thing the motor is pretty expensive on its own let alone paying a couple hundred for motor mounts...Jackson supercharger would be a good boost choice

$3000 for a JRSC, $400 for a ZEX, guess which will be faster?????
BTW, I spend all of $3k and made 217whp and still ran a standalone, just go GReddy or custom and do it yourself. Save the $$ and run harder.

15.2....for the setup, check out the site. Next is a small turbo project.
No you didn't run a 15.2

There is no way you're running a 15.2. One of my friends has a 93 del sol si w/a GSR swap, and his best time w/o nitrous is a 14.5, i believe. I don't know what the elevation difference is between here and there, but you're running a better time than me, and my car weighs less from the factory, and it's even gutted now. Sorry man.

the claimed 15.2 was on slicks if that sheds any light on anything.

Why is a 15.2 so hard to believe? I have a d16z6 did it on stock 13" crap wheels. Time slip is on my site? For someone to do it on slicks should make it that much easier.
