SOHC tranny question
Well recently I was lucky enough to get a sohc lsd tranny when I bought my d15b swap and only had to pay 150 for it since it was damaged in shipping and something rubbed against it in the container and wore a hole through the case but didn't damage anything internally. So I have an old junk z6 tranny and I'm just gonna swap the case from it and it's good as gold and I only had to pay 150 for a rare lsd tranny the shop didn't even know they had until I told them it was a LSD tranny since they thought it was just a plain old open diff tranny!
Okay, since this is my first time working with tranny's I'm not really too familiar with the internals. I noticed this little block in a little section of the case that bolts onto the block. When I pulled it out I noticed it was a little magnet. I never knew these came in the transmission since they have magnetic drain plugs for transmission to collect any metal flowing in the oil. Is this normal or something just with this lsd tranny? Also are the gear ratios the same of the z6 tranny but it just got a lsd diff in it?
Nice little hole and scuff marks from whatever rubbed against in shipping
Internals were perfect and nothing damaged from whatever was hitting it
Now that magnetic bar I was talking about

Re: SOHC tranny question (egizzle6)
the magnet is used to collect all the metal shaving from gears that wear over time. you need it, and a couple of periods, and comma's... jesus.

Re: SOHC tranny question (egizzle6)
yeah it's a regual D series tranny.
I think that LSD is viscous (or however you spell it) I don't remember it really good.
If it is you will need to use special tranny fluid. It has to be friction mesh formula. Try to search see what you can find.
