Default SOHC Supercharged??

I'm thinking about supercharging a D16Y8 with a completely built head and new pistons. Is there anyone out there who has gone through anything like this or knows of what kind of power this might make? I realize most people want dohc but I'd like to do something totally different with this build and not have to spend thou$ands more for mounts, ecu, getting a new exhaust system, etc.

I was going to go this route. I didnt want much power but a bump in torque with some more power was very apealing.

I got a ride in a freinds Jackson racing SC del sol, lots of fun. but not cheap. He got his kit almost 8 years ago and was around $ 5k with fmu , has updated ecu a few years ago.

Then I decided i wanted this option. After searching for a year for a supercharger I gave up.

( hard to find, if you do they want ALOT for it , aprox $ 1000-$ 2000 and some might evne need a rebuild or missing alot of parts ).

For the $$ you are going to spend I would go the turbo route.

DVDr, money wouldn't really be the issue as i really only have to buy the parts. Building and installation is taken care of. i found a JR sc for under $2k (brand new) so that's not the biggest issue. did your friend ever have his del sol dyno'ed?

If you found a new kit for under 2k , In my opinion its worth it ( add a nice 4-1 header , my buddy after added the DC sports 4-1 and got good gains with the SC )..

If you want fast , for the money go turbo.

But the SC make for a very fun car.

Ya he dynoed it years ago at 5 psi I think it made 150 hp.

Then a few years ago ditched the FMU and went with a chipped ecu , upgraded to DC 4-1 , and chaged pulley for 8 psi , and a small cam . made right around 200 hp .

no way is a B series a better bang for buck than a D, obviously its a much better engine stock for stock but on the same budget a D will easily be faster, Iv never seen a SC one though in person turbo is your best bet, I love my turbo D and i take alot of cars including my buddies b18ctype R civic and spent half of what he did, just one peice of advice to the OP get good and proper tuning dont skimp on that part I know some people buy a bunch of high end expenive parts and a cheap tune if any.

Turbo D is no joke, found a few that I barely inched by with my 07 Si sedan when I only had an intake and cat back exhaust. SC'd D series would be a great stop light to stop light car and daily driver.
