Default sohc shift link question

Just wondering why some d series shift links are straight and some have bends to them. I bought a jdm chromoly shift linkage from a jdm d15b vtec, because it was cheaply priced and i was going to buy a shell a while back, but didnt. So i had this jdm shift link lying around, so i decided to put it on because i was putting on a oem del sol shifter in my hatch anyway to lower the shifter height, when i put the shift links side by side the chromoly link had bends to them and it was thicker but my hatch had ones that were straight and thin but they both fit the same so im wondering why the bends on some of them does it make like a 10 percent shorter throw or something thats the only reason i could come up with lol Anyways its a dumb question, but im curious if anyone seriously knows
