i had nitrous on 2 d16's. one a y7, and then a y8. you should get a clutch thats it. most of the time it graps fine, but when i upped it to a 75 from a 55 on the zex wet kit, it didnt grab.

basically it depends if ur gonna spray a 55 shot you don't need anything just retard the timing and get colder spark plugs to be on the safe side if ur going with a 75 a lil risky but it should hold if the engine is in good shape just get a clutch and u good to go and if u plannin on anything crzy like anythin above 100 ur gonna need rods, pistons, thicker headgaskit, and once u doing all this might *** well finish the engine and block lol

If your just doing a 50 shot, get a clutch. And the usual 2 steps colder plugs and retard the timing. If your going to up to a 75. You might want to atleast do the basics like header, intake, exhaust. Just to get everything flowing quicker.

so for the SOHC nitrous build, all i need to upgrade is my clutch? and then get the nitrous system? sounds too easy...
theres gotta be more to it than that huh?

I would suggest a fuel pump and a FPR. If you haven't replaced your fuel filter in a while suggest that to.

Before I went turbo I was running a 75shot w/255 and aftermarket FPR stock internals on D16Y8., for whole summer. 15.8-16sec et., was all I could get on it.. Now I got turbo + Nitrous..

I ran a 13.6 with slicks, 150 shot wet zex kit and stage 2 centerforce clutch. Most inpressively, completely stock D16Y8 internals. Hard to get traction in the streets until Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind came along. Try to get it. Good if you're into drag racing. Spray off the line without loosing too much traction.

It depends on how much nitrous you want to used. For a low shot, colder spark plugs and 93 gas is all you really need. But a cam gear is nice too. For higher shots, upgrade the fuel pump, cam gear, pistons and rods, and all the other stuff you break.

RyanCivic2000 built his d16y8 real nice for turbo, but before he was turbo he was spraying alot. Look for posts by him, they are a great reference for any SOHC build

a cam gear will work for SOHC? thats weird. i guess its only function would be to lighten it a lil to free up some torque? since u cant adjust camgears in sohc

good info, but the period key is about 1/4th of an inch to the right of the comma. It would be a tad more understandable.

Yeah, a camgear is useful, for advancing or retarding the cam timing.. it helps.
