Here is the order that is on the car now! The car starts, then trys to die after hitting the gas. RPM's drop like crazy, and it runs like crap! I was thinkin distributor or alternator. The battery is fully charged though! Running at over 14V idle, and 13.1V with AC and lights on. Very strange.

Im thinking the wires are crossed, and its miss-firing. It sounds a lil "putty" at the tail pipe. I let my friend do my wires while I was at work cause the car was feeling like crap, and i didnt have the time.

Here is how its wired:

someone else posted this for DOHC i think, but this is how mine is wired!

Desperate! Anybody?

No, according to the haynes book I have, (that I am not sure how to read)... shows this. I just made it in MS Paint, so excuse it for lookin crappy!

Anyway. It shows the 1st engine start is at the t-belt. But, I am not sure how to match them up on the dist. cap.

It shows this crappy diagram in the book, Im just to dumb to be able actually figure it out!

Again, its for SOHC(D16Y7). there are like, 2 other SOHC motors.

anyway, all help is appriciated!

Thanks again.

I believe you had it right the first time. The firing order is 1342. To be sure, put the #1 cylinder at TDC on the compression stroke, take off the dizzy cap, and check to see what plug wire the rotor is pointing to. This is where the #1 plug wire should be plugged. Then put the rest of the plugs on going clockwise in the firing order, which again is 1342. Hope this helps!

1-3-4-2 is for SOHC also?

From the way mine is wired up, im positive of the first wire location. The book notes that, and I remember it from day one.

However, I am confused about starting from engine 2-3-4....

Starting from one going clockwise on the cap, its ... 1-4-2-3, so 3 & 4 are swapped wrong then?

</TD></TR></TABLE>

you need to switch the 4-2-3. It needs to be in the firing order I stated which is 1-3-4-2. Then you will be fine. Again this is starting from the #1 and going clockwise.

Its in the right firing order. I dont see what you are trying to do. You should be fine. Is this the order you originally had it in or did you change it to what I said. Because that is the 1-3-4-2 order I said to put it at.

Crap. Yea, no that was the order. I just went outside and took it to check the order. Damn it! I was actually hopeing that was the problem. Guess back to the drawing board! My new NGK wires will be here either today or monday. Try them out.

Im pissed though, cuz here is the problem. Car starts fine. I run it for a few minutes (meaning I step on the gas a few times in drive), and then come to a stop, the car has a vibration feel to it, the RPM's drop like an animal (to almost 100RPM.. as if its gonna die... but doesnt .. or hasnt yet), then when I steop on the gas its fine again until I stop.

I was thinking its the dristributor going bad, or an alternator problem. It SEEMS like the alternator is charging the battery becuase while this is going on the battery reads 14V. I have no clue where to go next to troubleshoot.

Freakin scumm'a s can only fit me in May 24th to first do it! Wow that sux.

Damn it! That things like, 140 bucks! Is it possible its the coil? lol
thats some mucho dough!

I will admit, the car felt better for a bit when i changed the rotor and cap, but then suddenly got worse afterwards!

How can i check that bad boy out to see if thats the problem? if its not that much I ll just do it myself!

Thank You
