Re: Sohc boost help
i have a y8 and its been boosing for a year now on 10psi of boost it all depends on your tune. im pushing 252 hp to the wheels and ppl say 250 is a safe reliable hp for a daily driver. when i finish building my other single cam im going to see what hp numbers i can get out of a stock motor with q16 race fuel lol

It's all about the tune, the gas you use, and the maintenance that you do to it. Find someone locally who tunes Hondas, and has experience with D-series engines. Buy gas at reputable places, not some random run down place who likely have a ton of dirt, water, and sediment in their tanks. Then take care of your car and check everything over constantly. I've seen a lot of people who don't check their oil, and wonder why they blew their engine, only to find out there was only a quart or 2 in there. Check your spark plugs as well, and learn to read them. That way you'll know if things aren't running right (running rich, lean, detonation, etc). Basically just don't think of it as a reliable Honda D-series engine anymore.

If nothing else, I recomend picking up some ARP head studs and rod bolts, get a good tune, take care of your car, and don't beat the **** out if it.
