i did a disc conversion yesterday on a 98 civic ex. when i bleed the brakes, i had pressure on the pedal, as well bubble free calipers. once i started the car pressure was lost at the pedal. any body have any suggestions.

brakes were also bleed according to sequence, front and rear.

most of honda master cylinders have to have vacuum applied to it to operate correctly. start the car and then bleed the brakes out. That should take care of it.

yeah, i kind of fogured that, which that's all ready been done. it's still kind of soft though. i'll play with it alittle more.

Anyway, just keep bleeding the brakes, man. You'd be surprised at how long it takes to get all the crap out of there. I had the same problem when i did my rear disk on my EG...then when i did my 5 lug on my eg...when i did my 5 lug on my Ek...and then again when i changed calipers on my GSR.

Bleed the fronts too...you might have let the reservoir go too low by mistake and got a little air in the front lines as well.

I am currently having the same problem, I did a GSR disc bake swap. And I have bleed the lines like 10 times. I turn on the car, and the pedal feels firm, then when I am brakeing the pedal starts to fall, so I have to pump it so that it becomes firm again, then it begins all over again...

I used a 4040 prop valve, and a GSR BB and 1" MC.
The car is a 95 CX NON ABS.

Could it be that I need a 94 DC4 NON ABS BB with the rest of my set up. My current set up keep blowing the seal between the BB and MC.

like the most of them said it could be the fact that you swapped out drums for discs and your prop. valve isnt set up to handle rear discs...that and you might want to think of getting a bigger master cylinder to help give you even better pedal pressure...you dont nessicarily have to do all this but im sure it will help

Does it have ABS, not sure if any 98 civics do, but this will change the bleeding process. Also, make sure u use the distribution block from the rear disc system, and remove all components(metering valve,etc.) from the drum system.

I had a problem when i did my disk conversion.
The car is a 93 civic cx hatch. I tryed out the integra gsr MC/bb. Every time i hold the brakes it sinks. So wtf after a month trying to figure out the problem. I went to the junk yard and grab a EX EK coupe BB/MC and it work.

when i did my GSR brake swap i left my MC/BB and prop valve alone and i have a very firm pedal with no issues.. going on 3 years now. oh i have a 93 DX

Up for the EJ2!! lol....i have 93 Dx...just did rear conversion and it brakes flawless....i didnt change any prop valve or any booster....the conversion i did came off a 99-00 si. just thought i post this...i have a diferent issue with mine.

I have a 93 CX. Did a rear disc conversion from a 92 Teg RS. Having same issue. No ABS. Havent switched bb, mc, or prop valve. Bled brakes 3-5 times and when bleeding the pedal is firm. Once car starts i loose all pedal pressure. Any thoughts?

Should I change the prop valve?

When my friends car had this issue we started it tryed it. It worked. We did the fronts as well. And after a while it worked.
Did you bench bleed the mc?
