Default Soft Clutch (Clutch slave/mc prob?)

On my eg my clutch keeps going soft. If I bleed it it stays for a couple days then gets soft again, I'm not losing fluid, is there anyway to tell if its the clutch mc or slave? where should I start?

Weird? so you don't have to add any fluid at all? how long has it been since you have replaced the clutch?

I had the clutch replaced 3 or 4 years ago but have only driven 20k or so miles, the car was wrecked right after the clutch was changed and then parked for 3 years. The clutch mc and slave are new, probably 3k miles max. I didn't know as much about cars back then and I think I got screwed on the job, as the clutch makes a noise until I clutch in, then it stops, I've been told this is the throwout bearing, could this be the problem? I didn't think so because when its soft sometimes if I can just keep stepping on the clutch and the pedal will have pressure again.

did you put a block of wood behind the clutch pedal to keep it from hitting the floor while bleeding? if not you could judt have a screwed Clutch M/C

No, and its also not the throwout bearing, thats one or more of the 5 bearings in your transmission going bad. If you have a noise when you depress that clutch pedal thats a bad throwout bearing.

You have a leak somewhere, master cylinder, slave cylinder or the line in between.

Do you see a fluid leak at the top of the clutch pedal?

Do you mean where the pedal assembly bolts in? I've looked under there and didn't feel andy wetness or see much, I can double check again tomorrow

The red arrow points to a common site for a clutch fluid leak.

Yes, sometimes if you depress the pedal all the way you'll get a piece of dirt in past the cup inside and score the bore of the cylinder, if its all new stuff though its unlikely. For what its worth i've always gone to floor when bleeding and never had a problem, not saying it doesn't or can't happen but I don't think its common.

I might have a leak there I felt under there tonight and there is a bit of dirt and some fluid, nothing super wet, but could be a small leak, does that mean the mc requires replacement?

There's a small fluid leak from the MC. This means the MC is suspect but unfortunately does not prove without a doubt that the MC is bad.

Is there a way to test the MC?
