so what year civic had the best looking headunit?
looking for a dummy headunit for my civic....just looking for a am/fm receiver...any ideas?

I actually kinda like the SI headunit. Especially since it lights up amber like my other stuff!
EDIT: If you need a 96-98 unit, I'll sell you mine for 15 bucks.

well considering that teh 92-95 civics use the same size and plugs as the 94-2001 integras. i would have to say the type r cd player. i have one in my 95 civic it plugs righ tup and lights up amber.

i took my ek head unit and painted the bulbs orange. it looks damn good. just take the two screws holding the faceplate off, remove the paper harness connecting the face plate to the circuit in the back. then carefully desolder all the bulbs, remove them from the sockets, stick them in cardboard, paint them with 3 coats of testors competition orange paint. then let them dry overnight, and carefully put the bulbs back into the sockets, and solder everything back up. looks amazing. i can have pics up in a few hours.

also not all 96-98 headunits are the same. if you have keyless entry, you need one from a car with keyless entry. or the opposite. i bought one which looked the same, but didn't work at all.

the code on the front for the one without keyless entry (came out of a 96 dx hatch i believe) is 1507. the code on the one with keyless entry (98 ex coupe) is 2tco. on this one there is a bigger green plug, versus the dx small green plug with only 4 pins in it.
the part number for the ex one is: 39110-s07-a010-m1

That is nice, but its not a stock civic is it? I have the
stock eg6 one. Not that nice at all. Didnt have a cd
player, only controls for a changer. It dosnt even
light up amber. I think it was base model, because
it came with the eg6 with the coin pocket instead
of power mirrors. I have it hooked up to the single
disc changer from the 96+ civic.

Its the gathers unit from civic type r, the face rolls down and there is a tape slot there, and it has a 6 disc changer that is seperate. You should see some of the stuff that gathers has on honda.co.jp

ok here's mine as promised. the pics sorta suck, it's cold out, i didn't spend too much time being a good photographer. this camera sucks too, it looks more orangey in person

they 02 si headunit is alright.
my stock 00 si headunit is ok nothing special though.
ill sell it to you for 20 bucks. (cd player doesnt work)

They look nice but didn't fit in my cousins 2000 civic. the face was to big, he just let it sit loose in the slot tho.
