Could be the belt or the a/c compressor clutch gap is out of spec.

who needs a/c? solve all a/c related problems and just yank it.

It wont work. Its not the belt...its the compessor clutch. It happens with all of the Honda's that i've come across. If you watch your AC compressor, when it makes the sound the thing will kinda stop, and keep going again, it looks like it gets stuck then keeps going again. But its fine, I talked to a Honda mechanic and he said its normal. The sound is annoying though But I've learned to deal with it

cheers bauley, good info as usual, not worried much about the sound, most annoying bit is actually feeling it kick in - car jolts very slightly but anyways at least i now know its common...

Yep, mine does too, as does my brothers 99 EX. The jolt is annoying...I just try to use the A/C as little as possible. But yeah, dont worry...mines been doing it the entire duration that i've had the car (3 years) and the A/C still works and blows cold
