So, power steering to manual steering...
OK, got a 96 coupe and when I bought it the power steering pump was removed. Had no problems until recently, it would turn one way but not the other. I put it up so the front wheels were in the air and turned the wheels. With my hands/feet, I could turn the wheel and heard a crunching/snapping sound from the rack and pinion. I then came to the conclusion that my rack and pinion needed replaced.
I removed the brace, and the mid pipe, and the shifter linkage and the outer tie rod ends and the transmission brace and the lines and the linkage connecting to the steering wheel. Basically removed everything, and removed the power steering rack and pinion. The return hose was just laying in beside the firewall.
Anyways, now to my question. I just want manual steering, since I don't have the power steering pump and the lines are questionable. Will the manual steering rack and pinion bolt right up to where the power steering rack and pinion was?
