Default So my friend's radio got jacked....

Well his 00' SI was broken into and the guy stole his HU along with the tray. He just bought a new HU and wants me to help him install it. I am used to installing HU on european cars and never really touched any japanese cars in the stereo department. Is there anything that I should know about his car before I take on this task?

just buy the necesary adaptation equipment(harness, install kit).this will also include a T harness to keep the stock HU working so his keyless entry still works.

the t only applies to the 96-98 civics, to keep the factory keyless.

He bought a aftermarket HU, would it be easier? If I remember correctly, there are some cables I have to disconnect on the center armrest right?

It's pretty basic once you get the radio out. If you have the adapter and plastic thing to hold the new radio, its pretty much plug and play.
