So many Civics...So many choices....
Well I'm looking into selling my ls teg for a GSR or some kind of Civic. The reality is, I don't know much about all the millions of different Civic models.
Is there a website that lists all the different civics and all their specs?
I have 6K....what Civic would you recommend?
Which model is good for boost? Which model is good overall?

go to http://www.carpoint.com for general info.
6K can either get you a 96+ civic.. stock/slightly modified. or a 92-95 civic/civic hatchback... vx/cx/dx you may even have enough for a motor swap.
boost, that all depends on your motor.

money is kind of an issue...it is hard to find a 94-95 gsr for only 6k.
Looking through carpoint.com the highest hp output i can find is 127. Now I know that there are some DOHC VTEC models...where are these? I know they must put out more than 127 surely.

DOHC VTEC for USDM 92-95 civics only came in Japan.. that would be the SiR models with the b16.
99-00 Civic Si's came with the b16a2 motor that is DOHC VTEC.. no hatchbacks in the US come with B Series motors..thats why most of us opt for motor swaps.

Depends on what your intentions are. If you just want fast, at the expense of other creature comforts, like AC, power steering, power door locks/windows, etc. Then you could opt for the cheapest bare bones Civic you can find, and swap in a more powerful engine. That alone would give you a nice platform to start modifying.
If you want some extras, and more power out of the box, then the 92-95 or 99-00 Si's are probably the best bet for their respective generations.
Personally, I wouldn't mind getting an even older 90-91 Civic hatchback and putting a swap in that, fixing it up, etc.
Really there are alot of choices, but anything short of the Si's is going to be less than impressive as far as stock performance goes.

He told you already, the 99-00 Si's had the b16a2 engine that makes 160hp. You most likely will not find one of those for only 6k, and if you do, you really have to wonder if you would want it. (normally they are in the 12-14k range)

Re: So many Civics...So many choices.... (piscorpio)
92-95 SI...how much power do they make?
also as far as removing AC belt...if your ac isnt on, then it shouldnt be drawing power.
and the power steering belt would not change performance on the drag strip

135HP
wrong
and also wrong.
ANYTHING connected to the crank pulley requires more force to turn. even if the ac is off,
granted, its only good for 4 or 5 HP for both but still, its 5hp you didnt have before.

92-95 Si's were rated having 125 peak hp, just to clear that up...I assume it was a typo.
BTW 92-00 EX's also had a SOHC VTEC engine (identical to the 92-95 Si, until 96-00 where only EX's had the single cam which was changed slightly netting 127 peak hp with slightly raised CR and different IM design.)
