Default SO look what happen today.....updated 7/21/09

On the way home from school, some kid in a mustang trying to show off decided to rear end my brother's car, sending my brother's car into the car in front of him. My brother got the worse of it. That kid in the stang didn't even apologize, plus that kid was speeding in 25mph zone with faulty brakes...DAM bastard.....SO should he rebuild or sell it? How much would he get for it if he was going to sell it? $1500 to sell. Rebuilding, I was think about $800 to repair.
Suggests would be appreciated.

damn thats a shitty story, that kid in the mustang would have been making out with my timberland boot and my bumper if he made it look like that.... to stang owners...

2 new bumpers and 1 hood and your good.... no need to sell...

Shouldn't the other guy be paying for it? Doesn't he have insurance?

Exactly, I would think that it would cost alot more than 800 to repair. I would get the insurance money then repair it myself, do a satin spray can job and with the leftover cash do a swap or something.

it cost my bfs friends civic front end $1500 for new fenders, bumper and rad support. [not including the hood] it was aligned and painted regular black.

that was the cheapest they found.

but yeah that sucks. i would just sue em.

looks like 2-3k in repairs, call your insurance. its not that bad.

In the future, try not to sit so close to the car in front of you while sitting in traffic.

did you not report this to the police? you can get into trouble for leaving a wreck. also if your not at fault its the other partys insurence company that covers the damages. thats why you pay insurence. liability means you only pay for the damages your liable for such as hitting a car.

i got close to 2000 dollars for getting my pickup backed into 2 times. even though i had not fixed the damage from the first one, i got alot more from the second one. cost me 2 old cars pulled to the junkyard and traded for all the parts i needed to fix it.

Easy fix, hell you could even go to a junkyard and find those parts for even cheaper than some other places. Keep the hatch.

If you're thrifty, that's a sub $1500 dollar fix, including paint and labor being 2/3 of it. The only thing you need to buy new is the core support, and I HIGHLY suggest only oem, and the rest you can find locally.

in michigan we have a no fault law and my insurance will not cover it. everything in repair will come out of my pocket.

I've already deleted one "mustang driver are ********..." reply, so just giving everyone fair warning - don't bother posting such replies.

It just so happens the moron who hit this guy happened to be in a Mustang, which is really 100% irrelevant to the topic at hand.

For the OP:

Why isn't the other driver (at fault) paying for the wreck?

How do you know the other driver had "faulty brakes" anyways?

my thoughts exactly! whos to say the hatch wasn't going ***** out and slammed on his brakes in front of the mustang, got rear ended by the mustang who was hot on the civic's ***, thus sending the civic into the car ahead of him.. and what if it was just a simple mazda 626 or even like a mercury grand marquis, would you still say the owner of the car was a dumbass due to the car he drives? probably not!

just playing devils advocate i suppose!
