So im thinking about doing the 99-00 front end conversion...
I wanna do the conversion to a 99-00. Product JDM in Queens,NY has it for $580 installed. It's a honda civic coupe EX btw.
-Black housing lights
-Fenders
-hood
-Grille
-Bumper
-lip
they had a post on craigslist but its not up anymore.
I posted this in a JDM thread on another forum and they told me to go the OEM route but its about double the cost. Double the cost = 1/3 of what I spent on the car so it's really not worth it to me.
So im looking on some feedback on going the non-OEM route. What should I tell the shop if I want it done right ? I was searching on google and saw that they have to cut some holes in the bumper and something about radiator.
To lazy to look right now, im about to hit the sack. Any help is appreciated.

down and then holes will be drilled in the tabs to line up with the preexisting holes (on either side of the grille) on the bumper. There are TONSSSS of how-to's and DIY's on google, just do a little bit of research.
My jaw honestly DROPPED when I saw the price that they were giving you. I got my whole conversion for about $250 from a place called Certifit (www.Certifit.com). Great quality parts and it fit like a glove
DIY and you won't have to worry about "labor charges" that get thrown into the mix. Go ahead, get your hands dirty

yea i agree.. its easier to DIY, i got my front end conversion form some guy on craigslist for $60 w/o the headlights, jus took me one afternoon and it bolted right up. all you have to do is line up the radiator support holes for the bumper and everything else is jus a piece of cake. save the money! dyi

I did mine myself the only oem part was the new hood, I have never seen a decent non oe hood, But everything lined up fine, And It looks awesome to. All the parts were brand new and it cost me just a hair under $375.

thats a decent deal if 1. it lines up, and 2. they paint it to match. otherwise tell them to suck a lemon.
edit:
It's in Queens. It's probably OEM parts, because I probably stole em of someone's Si.

I don't mind paying the 580 installed but really just wondering if it's a big deal if it's not OEM ?
It's my first car and I don't know much about cars so I don't wanna do it myself.

if you don't want the hassle of doing it yourself, and if you don't mind spending the extra $$ to have it done for you, then so be it..
but it's not like you need to know about cars to do this job!! if you know how to use a screwdriver, a socket wrench, can drill 2 holes, and can cut 4 straightish lines with a dremel (pretty simple), then you can do this install..

How big of a deal is it if the parts aren't oem ?
I also need a si wing put on and mirrors so I'll see if they'll do it all in 1 shot for the same price.

thats a good deal but they also make black housing headlights for the 96-98 front end so a conversion isnt necessary if thats what you are looking for. but if you just want the front end that seems like a really good deal

Are they paint matching the parts to your car? if not, its a rip off. i could probably get the same deal paint matched to my car and installed at that price.

Re: So im thinking about doing the 99-00 front end conversion...
The main problem is that the quality is variable. I've had replacement parts that looked and fit 99% as well as the OEM piece does...and I've had replacement parts that were completely the wrong size and didn't fit at all.
The thing about OEM parts is you are guaranteed that it will be perfect. If you don't care about perfection, go for a replica.

Boxeo - I like the 99-00 nose better especially with the fog lights.
Anon - No they arent paint matching it but I was planning on painting the car anyway.

It's hard to tell from the pics, since the pieces aren't lined up. That lip looks like crap though.
The price is pretty high though...there's a shop on my local CL right now selling the same thing, with OEM parts, for $400.
