Default So I traded my crx for a del sol...

I traded my crx for a del sol, and everything under the hood seems to be working properly except I noticed that vtec engages @ 4500rpm. Is this right? The engine in the car is a Jspec B16A running a P28 ecu, I don'k know if it's chipped or not but from my understanding I has to be chipped or I will get detonation, correct? Any help will be appreciated TIA.

Just open the ecu and look. My buddy who put a jdm b16a in his del sol got a skunk2 chipped p28 with the swap.

some chips actually say the specs on them... i know mine does, but i guess if the car runs good, i wouldnt worry... just try to pop the ecu open and look for a diff.

they all dont say bro.... i got a skunk2 p28 and it doesnt say it on mine....u have a rev limiter???and if so what does it go to?

hmmm i dunno then...cuase mine doesnt have a rev limiter... but try openin it up maybe there will be a tag GL

That's also one of my problems the tach doesn't keep up with the actual engine rpm and the speedo jumps around.

Most stock tachs will only be off by a few hundred if that. 4500-5300 would be a pretty big offset.

p30 is what came stock with the del sol 94-95 vtec model in the US.

I ran a p28 in my 93 EX w/b16a and I had detonation like a maffaq'r...switched over to a p30 and it runs a helluva lot better...no chip whatsoever....

O.K. I opened up the ecu and I could not tell if it was chipped or not. On the cover of the ecu it said '95 gsr in red marker.

thats ur problem. gsr's have dual stage intake manifold so VTEC engages at 4500 and the secondary butterflies open at 5400 i believe

get a p30 or chip ur gsr ecu

Kool good lookin out. So I will have no detonation by driving w/ this ecu right? And if I chip the ecu or get a P30 my car will run better correct?

the only thing is there is a couple diff skunk2 programs like for insistance mine vtec engages at 5800 and there is no red line . i bought my computer from skunk2 though i dont know if that makes a differance or not
