Default so... I am putting a d17a2 in my 95 coupe

I got a good deal on a 33k mile d17a2...
My d15b7 blew up yesterday now I am going to put
the d17 in there.
I don't really know that it has been done before because
I have searched and searched. If anybody has any links
please post them here.
The plans are to keep the altenator where it is suppose to
be and keep ac. The the lower alt bracket only has one hole
to bolt to. The crank pulley hole on the 1.7 is alot bigger So I
am going to see about drilling the 1.5 pulley out. Also on the
1.7 head it has the coolant setup right in the way of the
distributor but I am taking the head to a machine shop to
the that and the egr holes blocked off. Then I am going
to put a compresson fitting in the front. Also while the cam
is out see if the machine shop can match the slot in the 1.5
cam on the 1.7.
I know this seems like alot of trouble but I am going to have
about 400 in a 03 civic engine with 33k.
Any suggestions would be great. If anybody has been down
this road help me out. I am not putting this engine in for
speed just to daily drive my car.

Distributor-less ignition is one of the hurdles.

this is going to cost way more and be alot more of a pain in the *** than just buying a single cam swap from hmotors.

if your only concern is a running car again, i suggest exercising that option first, rather than frankensteining a swap like this in.

just my .02

this d series is like no other though. I was thinking the same thing at first. My budget is 400 and I am sticking to it. I think it can be done. I just have to do stupid stuff that nobody else will do. I still have my cx to drive daily right now so as long as it lasts I have time to figure it out.

For 400 you might be able to pick up a b18b, witch would be easier to swap and is a much better engine.

If not, then I would definitely try to find a d16z6 or y8, you can get those for really cheap anywhere.

Get a Y8 block and head and swap the D17A2 crank, rods, and pistons in it. Have a nice stroker D!!! You be able to do it for $400 dollars. Go search it or go over to D-series.org they have plenty of threads on it. I might try it one day.

I remember reading up on this a little while back and people were comparing the costs and it turned out to be marginally less than a K20 swap.

Stick to a normal swap to save yourself the headache.
