Default smoking still after replacing valve stem seals

ok i swapped in a d16z6 into my 91 hatchback and the old motor out of it burned oil and smoked really bad. this past weekend i replaced all the gaskets and the valve stem seals and it still smokes. its only in high rpms. im wondering if this could still be in the exhaust from the last engine or do you think the z6 is doing this. thanks for the help

also i know wrong section probably but how much does a engine rebuild usually cost (not back to stock either)

white smoke or black smoke?

white (blueish) is oil, if its dark in color that's just the motor running rich.

Your old engine wouldn't still be doing it with the new one, if you are thinking it left oil in the exhaust.

I'd say its the piston rings.

I know you said it does it at high rpms, does it do it when your accelerating or deccelerating? acc would be rings/wall and decc would be valve seals.
