Smoking 92 Hatch
Hey everyone, I have a question out there. I recently bought a 92 civic hatchback and I noticed that when I accelerate hard it blows out greyish smoke, but when I am standing still no smoke also when I take off from a light I get a little puff of smoke when I accelerate but that part is intermittent. Do I need new valve seals. Oh yeah the engine is a d15 sohc, and it has no problem accelerating so I ruled out rings.

Re: Smoking 92 Hatch (egcivic80)
i had almost the same problem. When i bought my 92 dx, sohc 1.5
i would get smoke everytime i took off and everytime i pushed hard in first.
i thought it was my seals also, cause my dad is a big old car kinda guy, and he says thats what happens.
But it actually turned out being my clutch, it was gone.
it was catching on the springs. and thats what was putting out the smoke.
i dunno if it is, but maybe something to check.

thanks alot for the info and time you took to answer my question. I forgot to include that it has an automatic transmission.

You really want some smoke, try that seafoam ****
But serously, it might be burning oil/carbon build up. Try that seafoam stuff to clean it out and see if it helps. other then that, i dunno.
