SMOKIN Like a smoke bomb
ok on the way to my friends house yesterday. i was on the 15 comming from fallbrook headed to temecula and about 5 min away from the exit my check engine light came on. and i was like wtf. so i said ill stop at kragen its just a block away from the exit. the while at the stop light at the intersection my oil light came on and the car died about 100 feet away from kragen. so i crank it one last time saying i can make it just 100 feet. walked into kragen got 5 quarts of oil and poured it into the car. and i found that the vtec solenoid is leaking so i patched it up with some silicon for a temp fix till i get my engine fixed and head to inlinefour. after that it was good for about 10 miles and now the car starts to smoke. i need to know if the rings are bad the smoke is whiteish blue. i also need to know if there is a good car shop around here for a decent price. and how much it would cost for the installation on the parts.

Re: SMOKIN Like a smoke bomb (Jammersplace)
i think you fried your engine. the oil light comes on when you have les than 4 psi oil pressure. by then its too late. you could have easily damaged all of your internals. The rings could have gotten burned up and that is causing oil to slide by into the combustion chamber, but you could have also damaged your rod and main bearings. I hope you get by with just burnt rings. As for price it would be cheaper to buy a new engine than have someone overhaul unless you can do it yourself.

I don't think you should have poured 5 quarts of oil into your car. The oil light menas low pressure, not necessarily low oil. I'll bet your oil was low, but not THAT low. you probably have 6 or 7 quarts of oil in your car, and it only really neds 4-4.5 quarts. It's no wonder you're getting smoke. Drain the oil and start over.
I can't speak to your engine light problem though, sorry.
