smokes from the engine...
drove for about 30 mins to get home today. i was pushing the car pretty hard since i was on the freeway. got home and it smelled like burned wires, so i opened the hood and there was a lot of smoke coming from the intake manifold area. ive smell that smell for the past couple of weeks but didnt realize any of the smoke til today. i think its cause i drove it a lot harder then i normally do. anybody with any ideas?

yeah, at least look for yourself before you ask the intraweb what it is. Not trying to be a dick, but your in a better position than us to find that out.

Well get under your car and take a good look at your entire harness since you said it smelt like burning wires and the harness goes along the back nof the block under the IM..

Re: (NOFX)
probably your wires rubbing up your intake manifold bracket, where they got stripped and then they started rubbing together and your now burnt most of your harness and if you smell that smell for more than a couple of days you know what that means
STOP driving and diagnose... if you smell burning wires and ignore its like changing your oil and saying you know that back right tire is flat... oh well

Or its something more simple like a leaking oil filter dripping oil on the exhaust. The smoke would come up though the intake area. Things would stop working if he was burning his wires up.

i know its been a week since i first posted this. been busy and the weather is just crazy, so i havent had the time to do anything til today. a buddy looked at it and said it was just a small oil leak. the smoke is just from the oil burning. he said ill be fine. but just to double check, how harmful can that really be?

Re: (hatch_)
Depends how big the leak is. You should fix it, because whatever is leaking, it will leak more and more over time. But if its just a little leak, you can wait a while before fixing it.
