is it legit? is it built to cali smog standards? is it newer than your car? then of course you can pass smog with it.............

Re: (B18B1-turbo)
you will need all the usdm evap. emmision components, and most likely a usdm ecu for the proper fuel maps, and such
BTW, do muscle cars ever get pulled over in cali and have to go through this ****? I dont see how one of them could even come close to passing....

Re: (Ricey McRicerton)
the reason why hogs dont have any problems, because:
1. Alot of cops have bikes
2. ALOT of govenment officals have bikes, IE. lawmakers and such.
You wont ever see laws against bikes, because they will just keep getting shot down.

So you did this to your car and dont ALREADY have the answer? All the work to get a K20 in and you dont know this? Well if you can't lets just say that swap was worth nothing...

if everything is done right(wiring, emissions devices, etc) the only problem i foresee at bar would be exhaust manifold. the stock one wont clear rear cross member so you have to use an aftermarket custom one. that manifold has to be carb exempt to run on nonpolluter vehicles. there are headers made for the swap, but no one has shelled out the huge amount of dough to get it carb exempt.

not an issue.
i know for most hondas and b-series swaps, it goes USDM air box, exhaust manifold, ecu, all vaccum lines hooked up properly. and all emmisions devices hooked up.
as for this K-series, i highly doubt the RSX air box is going to work in an EG. the stock exhaust manifold does not work. i can use the type-s ecu, if i manage to get my grubby little hands on one. and as far as emissions control goes. the RSX's dont have a fuel return line, and we have that handled.

Most muscle cars are typical exhaust only vehicles or are older than 73 (smog exempt).
I have seen plenty of the V8s at the smog ref when I'm there.....most pass but some are sent home.
EDIT: The K20 is legal as long as you have the USDM header, ECU and emissions equipment.
EDIT: Motorcycles have no restriction on exhaust noise.

Well smart one if it cant pass emmisions then it is ILLEGAL to drive making it useless. Think before you speak.

Yup...cars 73' and older do not have to be smogged.

Same to you.
There are MANY modified vehicles out there that are dedicated track cars, which of course are not legal on the streets.
It doesn't make them useless.
Bottom line: Neither of you should rip into one another without thinking.

correct spade, you need to have EVERYTHING emissions wise from the rsx.

You dont usually have to worry about smoging a "track only" vehicle.

you should be the pioneer then for smogging it then..wire it up like an rsx....use the right ecu and smog equipment and then try to ref it...i dont see why this swap would be treated any different than a b series at the ref.
the only thing i can see as a problem is the header...because don't you need to put a 'special' header in to make the swap work???
since your basically rewiring the whole car anyway putting the necessary obdII or whatever obd we are at on your eg....
not an issue.
