Default Smelly car

Well a month or so ago my car was leaking water onto the driver side floor, the leak has since been fixed. There is musty smell in the car that comes and goes, I've gutted the carpet, cut the driver side insulation out, and wiped down the driver side floor and the smell still remains, How can I get rid of the smell.. I don't know exactly what it smells like, but it isn't pleasant as it's irritating my nose and throat. Any ideas or suggestions are more then welcome.

I'm at a loss as I'm out of ideas and it's getting to the point where I want to get rid of it because it's that irritating.

The car is a 1992 hatch if that even matters.

Shampoo the Carpets, and let it sit out in the sun all day.

I bought a hatch from a guy, and it smelled horrible on the inside.

SO I gutted it, and took the carpet to the car wash after I soaked it in cleaner. took it there and power washed it. then we took pinesol and cleaned the bare interior floor. and took the dirt devil littke green machine and washed the headliner. with all the seats out we rented the rug doctor from lowes and cleaned them.

Put it all back together and it smells brand new.

Not to mention we wiped down the dash and all too. panels etc

might go away
it's worth trying

in my del sol, before i replaced the roof seals, it used to leak. my seats were all musty smelling from getting wet so i used febreze auto on them a lot. I bought one bottle and sprayed the hell out of them pretty much every other day until the bottle was empty (not using it all in one day, but i stopped spraying the seats completely once it was gone). the smell went away. i don't have the seats anymore though.
