sluggish power band before 3,500 rpm. 96 civic b16a2 swap
as the title says. my setup as follows, 00' si swap, p06 -->vtec w/ b16 basemap ECU, running a flex pipe in place of the cat, stock muffler and reasonator, obd2a-obd1 jumper harness.
power feels kinda sluggish before 3,500 rpm , after 3,500 it feels fine and picks up quickly and vtec engages at 5,700. what could be the problem?
i also jumped the service connetor and got code 36 if that means anything a while back, but i resetted the ECU.
i've already replaced the spark plug wires and plugs w/ ngk, cleaned the air cleaner, just did an oil change, and replacing the fuel filter tomorrow.
let me know guys!!

I would have to say, beacuse honda's have no low end torque...
I do you have no cat, and a stock muffler and resonator..
slap on a cat save the enviroment

i recently got my whole exhaust system so it'll be on soon!
would that be the reason why my car is sluggish because theres no cat??

Re: (Syndacate)
maybe its possible that i'm just feeling the lack of power in the b16.
btw, i've also replaced the oxygen sensor as well.

What are u revving it up to before u pull out the clutch? Rev it u to lke 2.5k before u release the clutch, if u start too low with a 1.6L engine it'll bog down when u pull out the clutch...

Re: (pinoyboy204)
welcome to the world of having a b16.....all the b16 civics i've driven has done that....its normal for b16's to feel sluggish from 1,500 rpm to 3500rpm....dont expect to go anywhere flooring a b16 from a low rpm....at first i thought it was b/c i have a light weight flywheel but after driving more b16 coupes and hatches, its the same thing....

Re: (egsleepercivic)
before it gave me a oxygen sensor code a while back with a jdm p30 ecu and now replaced the o2 sensor i'm using my new p06 vtec one, it has never reappeared.
it feels like i have a o2 code (which i don't) because it feels sluggish. like hesitant unless i floor it.

those are serious replies... having a b16 will give you a sluggish powerband before 3500rpm, thats all there is to it.

don't do this, your just going to wear your clutch premature.
i know some are saying it's a normal b16, but idk, i have a jdm b16a and i don't have this problem (and that's not me playing favorites). maybe because yours is a b16a2? idk, try changing your cap and rotor. also put back your cat. maybe your losing back pressure and this might be the cause of it. who knows?
