Slow power windows
All the suddon tonight my power windows on 99 Si are going up/down really slow. Even stopped in the process I let off a few sec went up.
Headlights, radio, everything else in the car working fine. This happens even if the car is not running with nothing else on at all.
Any ideas?

Re: Slow power windows (x00gsr)
if its both windows you might have a bad connection to the motors somewhere causing them to not get full voltage. if its just one, maybe a bad motor or in need of lube.

Checked all fuses related are fine. This is both windows and all the sudden tonight. Where might the connection be so I could check it?

Re: Slow power windows (Nyc y0!!!)
try spraying "silicone lubricant" in the window tracks... you just roll it down a little and spray the crap out of the crease's in the back and the front... roll it up and down a couple times and re-spray if needed...
It's probobly not a dirty track if it started all of a sudden...
The connections are all behind the door panel. You'll need to pull that off to inspect the wiring... It sounds more likely that the motor's going though.

Re: Slow power windows (civicdee)
Yea, this just started tonight on both windows. Were working fine this morning.
Just checked the moonroof works fine.
The one came out of track one time when the door panel was off but I put it back in and was fine since. When it was out of track it would not roll up at all though and both windows go all the way up and down just very slow and will stop sometimes near the bottom. Had to wait a sec once to get it to roll back up. Both all the sudden in one day just makes no sense what so ever though.

There is obviously a resident genious over there who saw that write up...
"just fyi... it'll work just as well if you JUST spray the silicone down the window channels.. NO need to take apart the door panel usually."
I read that write up on my way to solve my problems... 2 HOURS later and a COMPLETELY dis-assembled doorpanel and LOTS of grease... the windows were just as sticky as before... then I sprayed the silicone down the channels (which I could have done w.o taking it apart)... cleared up instantly.
Did the pass. side w/o taking it apart and it cleared it up just as well..
The track that you can grease once the panel is apart is VERY short and relatively insignificant to the operation... If you get a coathanger and some good grease you can get some where it really counts but even then it doesn't clear up the problem... the spay down the "window run" is all it took for me at least.

Re: Slow power windows (civicdee)
take your door panel off and lube the molding with white lithium grease, like the stuff in the can, it'll last the longest. My windows have been doing this for years as well. its VERY common.
