Slow to crank when warm , advice needed
Car is a 92 hatchback, sleeved gsr . Replaced alternator and battery, car will crank fine in the morning but when it's warm after driving it and I go to start it back up it cranks very slow and won't fire ... If I wait maybe a hour it will fire up fine. Does this sound like a weak starter or a main relay issue ?? I have not messed with the grounds any but the car does not have a ground on the valve cover .. Not sure how important that one really is .
Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure the pump still primes, this only happens when the car is warm or when sitting on a hill which is really strange , it acts like it has a bad battery but if I let it sit for awhile it will crank fine

Bad battery as in the starter just clicks and doesnt turn over? If so you could have a loose connection on the starter which would also explain why it does it on hills as the slant of the hill might make the loose connection lose contact. Easiest thing to do would be to just swap on a new starter, theyre cheap enough and you already replaced you alternator so might as well freshen the whole motor up.

Seems to be related to heat and angle. To me this makes me think that it is the battery.
Is the battery getting super hot?
Otherwise it could be a damaged starter that doesn't react too well to heat

i had a 91 crx si that did the EXACT same thing..and i have seen many more just like it...simply an old starter that has done it's job sufficiently for plenty of years and now it is just tired and worn from old age lol
