Guys,
I am planning on installing an RMF Narrow replica next week. This is on a '93 Hatch with ITR swap. Are slim fan or OEM fan grinding mandatory? If I need a slim fan, which brand/model would you recommend?

I've seen people trim their OEM fan and it works just fine. Or you could order a slim fan and that would be "cleaner"

You need to either cut the OEM fan housing or get a slim fan. I got a Flex A Lite when I ran into this problem. Best deal around is on Amazon.

I picked up the slim fan I have linked to in my sig simply for the plug and play aspect of it. I haaaaate having to splice wires. There's nothing special about it past that and that it is low profile and cheaper that a FAL. It definitely does it's job though. If you get a shroud from them it makes mounting a little easier but due to the fact that I had to drill the mounting holes a little larger to get the bolts (the fitment is not precise and TBH I was not thrilled by the quality of the one I got-I might take a few pics and do a real review) to fit I'd get a FAL if I had the money.

Do you guys think the slimfan.com 1000cfm solution (fan + shroud) are adequate for my setup? I really want it to be as efficient as OEM or better, I don't want my car to run any warmer (even if it doesn't cause overheating).

My setup: stock B18C swap with RMF Narrow header, exhaust and intake. Car is driven in both Atlanta and Miami, about half and half traffic/highway.

Pics as promised.
This is the slimfan mounted to the Neukin shroud mounted to the Go Autoworks D-series aluminum radiator. This is going in tomorrow barring any incidents.

Pic #1. Mock-up of all 3 pieces.

Pic #2. Notice the way the shroud fit flush to the right of the rad?

Pic #3. Well it doesn't on the left side! WTF!

Pic #4. Don't know what the hell is going on here. Notice the patch welding job on what looks like a crack or cut in the shroud above the drain for the rad? Again WTF?

Pic #5. Mounting tab that doesn't line up even after widening the hole. WTF.

Pic #6. The the OEM style plug for the fan.

Pic #7. This is how the fan mounts to the shroud. Holes had to be made larger to fit the pegs on the shroud.

Pic #8. The other side of the rad.

Right now I cannot speak to the performance of this particular combo but I'll find out soon won't i?

I read somewhere on here that 1000cfm was low. i can't find the thread, though. Can anyone chime in? I have a dual-core that I've been meaning to install, but don't know which fan I should get. Nobody has a clear answer on how many CFM's are necessary.

I have read that the shroud makes all the difference with these lower CFM slimfan applications. Probably why the lower CFM stock fad cools so well.

Rad, fan and shroud are in the car. Took almost twice as long for the fan to kick on as with the OEM combo while I was bleeding the air. Probably a testament to the cooling capacity of the new rad. When the fan did finally kick on it sounded like a mini-tornado and moved a lot more air than it did when it was mounted to the stock rad with no shroud.

I need to mention that the mounting legs of the rad were a little off as well. All in all not a precision fit for any of these components.

im running a mishimoto rad/fan combo. they line up nicely and fit well.
the fan as marc said sounds like a mini tornado in the front of the car. im aware they aren't the same brands. also it only puts out 933.5 cfm according to them.

you would have to splice wires though.

by mounting legs you mean where the rad fits on the radiator support, right? How much clearance are you getting with everything? No rubbing?

i have a lsr, with full length cx racing double core rad, gates racing low temp thermostat, 15" hayden slim fan no shroud... imo i dont know how well shrouds help, but ive never had cooling issues... PS i directly mounted fan with metal zipties to rad fins

Any idea how the fan + shroud combo you bought will work/fit on a full sized Integra Type R radiator? Or do you really need a hald size radiator for it

I would go with the slim fan I could get the RMF header to clear but I went with a slip fan! it looks better it runs quieter and its waaaay more efficient.

this is what I was running before I switched to my boosted motor you can see there is plety of clearence but I dont know about your setup.

It's obvious the setup is for a half rad. If you need a fan/shroud combo for a full sized one I've seen them available elsewhere.
