Slight grind in my ex/si tranny?
I have a slight grind on my ex/si tranny when i shift into 3rd when running the car hard also had it slip out of this gear twice at low rpm's Is the tranny shot? But the tranny only has 60,000 on it?

I just got a gsr swap with under 25k on it, and the thing grinds going into third when shifting at high rpms.
Its likely that you and me both have syncro problems....sucks.

i have the same prob with mine and it has been getting progressively worse, i know its the sync's. i was wondering how hard of a job is it to replace them myself? and approx. how much are the parts i need?

Seriously, its not even worth it. When dealing with a D-Series tranny, you should just get a new one, its not worth it to rebuild your current one, unless you can do it yourself or you have a friend who can do it for free, and you can get a great deal on the parts. If you cant get or dont have both those things, its gonna cost you more to fix it than to just replace it.

yeah it's probably your 3rd gear synchros. Some tranny fluid might help the grind but it'll only be for a little while till it starts grinding again

I work in a tranny shop and I agree it is not worth it to rebuild unless you got the money and it is nice to have a rebuilt tranny but you can pick up D series tranny's for cheap.Also I dont recommend attemping to rebuild it yourself unless you really know what you are doing. Not impossible just Not worth it IMO. And if it gets bad that it does it all the time try what I would call double clutching but anyways..Push Clutch shift into Neutral. Release Clutch. Press Clutch again and shift into 3rd. Eventually you can get fast enough with this method and it will be alright till you get the money together to get another tranny. I did this with my 89 HB with my b18A for like 4 months.

my tranny made did the same thing. I shifted from 2nd to 4th then to 3rd and it didnt grind but when i raced i didnt do that way. One day on the way home from work i downshifted to 2nd and it would go into 3rd. I opened the tranny and my shift fork was fucked. and my diff had a chunk out of it.
