I was planning on getting new spring and shocks b/c I need them very badly...I would like a smooth ride but w/ it still kinda stiff for cornering on the streets...What setup is best??

Skunk2=STIFF and BOUNCY
Tein=Soft and mushy, almost stock feeling
H&R=SUPERB

i have neuspeed race springs

which are very similar to h&r race

I finally installed some koni yellows last week & wow the difference compared to stock shocks is amazing

Those aren't cheap at all...I want some within $200-$300 price range...if possible

And my dad said he won't let me lower it until I get it paid off b/c hwne I lower it I take a chance of hurting the car by hitting pot holes and bottoming out...is there anyway I can either keep that from happening or re-ensure him that it won't happen??

Tell him that his "assumptions" of lowered imports are bs... lowering your car 1.7-2" is not as low as he may think. The only way you are going to bottom out is if you charge speed bumps and steep driveways. And pot holes are usually only a few inches deep and wide, unless your city has avoided the issue and you now have a miniature "sink hole" like the one I saw destroy this guy's rims on his EM1. Tell your dad to give you a break.

Well I wrecked once being stupid and trying to drift...and then I threw a bearing or something and had to replace my engine...I haven't paid my bill for 3 months b/c he said I didn't have to since it was down

i got the skunk 2 full suspension kit, and it works like a charm. The ride is smooth, it hugs the ground like nothing, and when i run over the bumps or pot holes, it doesnt give you the clunk feeling.

i got the skunk2 proseries true coilovers on my em1, and man they are supper stiff!!!!!! but on smooth roads, they ride nice, and yes they do hugg the ground alot! i like my old tokico hp setup more though.

ive had H&R lowering springs on my civic for almost 9 years now. they are still as good as the day i put them on. very comfortable ride!

GC are using eibach spring now... so you would be trading eibach for eibach and the GC name, if u dont believe be, research it, just looking out... my 2 cents, btw anyone know about whats best, skunk 2 coilovers or just save and get the whole Buddy Club N1 Full Coilover suspension since i need both

You're asking for quite a bit considering the somewhat low budget you have. Why not just save up some more and get something better? If you just have to get something to replace your blown shocks in the meantime, just go to a junkyard and get something there and save up for something better later on.

As others have mentioned:

1) Skunk2 - stiff as hell, not recommended for daily driving unless you don't mind skipping over bumps and rattling your interior trim

2) Tein - overrated and just not worth the money

3) H&R - Tried and true with very reasonable pricing. From their basic lowering springs to their full coilovers, they mostly do their job well.

And lastly, the setup that many die by - Koni Yellows with GC coilovers.

H&R race and tokico illuminas are a great street setup. Illuminas can be had for 250-300 used.

But for another $100 or so you can have konis.

I'll probably cheap out and get tokicos, both have lifetime warranty.

yeah, sell the s. tech. I think they don't lower the car enough at all.

H&R sport is good if you dn't want to scrub. But with proper application of "wax on, wax off" technique applied to your steering wheel the H&R race is what I will rock daily.
