skunk2 sohc vtec cam?????
does anyone have experience, first-hand or otherwise with the skunk stage 1 cam for the sohc? ive got one that im gonna put in soon after i get my head back from the machine shop and i was wonderin how it preformed? im also kinda curious to know at what rpm the cam stops making power, so i can know if i need to upgrade to ti retainers(i already got valvesprings). i tried searching and didnt find much, so any info is appreciated.

My buddy had a crowler stage 1 cam in his non-vtec 97dx it ran strong and made power all the way to the redline...i dont believe it would be worth your while to upgrade your whole valvetrain just to rev a bit higher because i dont think the stage 1 will make alot more power above your redline

I used the Stage 1 from Skunk2 in my Y8. Initially, I was very disappointed because my numbers were actually less than what a stock Y8 would put out. I swapped back in the stock cam, dynoed again, and found out my compression is low and that my engine is a bit weak on power. But overall, as my engine stands, I gained 4 hp over just a CAI and header, so I'd say I gained maybe 6-7 hp over a bonestock setup. Not bad for a 50-state cam. I actually sold it to axhandler (here on H-T) along with my cam gear. Hopefully he'll post up results when he installs it.

I will...I will...Dont worry...
It's been a long weekend and the whole cam key buisness stopped my progress dead in it's tracks. I hope to get to the dyno next weekend and at the latest the weekend after next. Should be interesting...

Sweet! I'm anxious to hear how my cam will actually do in a motor that isn't worn out.

Yeah. . . . And now I think I have a bad axle, too. Yay! Problem after problem after problem.
