Skunk2 Shift **** problem
Whats up people, I got a Skink2 shift **** about three weeks ago and it is starting to rust. The car current has no carpet and water leak from the driver side quarter panel. The crazy Texas weather will make it rain and then get hot within day which causes a lot of moisture to build in the car. This is the only explanation I can come up with as to why its rusting so fast. I've tried to use a high grit sand paper to sand it off, but it takes the finish off. The ***** are supposed to be stainless steel, which depending on the type has high resistance to corrosion so I was pretty surprised that this has happened.
I started searched around and I see that almost all the Skunk2 ***** shot in peoples cars seem to have a clear coating of some kind. I don't know if any of you all coat it with something or if yours came with a coating, but mine was bare. I know this one is pretty much screwed, so just looking to see if anyone has had the same problems I have.
Thanks

Re: Skunk2 Shift **** problem (lollypopking)
I've had about 7 Skunk2 shift *****, used and new. My ***** were smooth and not gritty as if there wasn't a coating on. For some reason, the ***** tend to fade from dark gray to gray. I don't think there was any clear coat as the **** wasn't slippery.
Maybe Skunk2 has a warranty?

Re: Skunk2 Shift **** problem (BlueIntegraBoy)
Thats what I thought. I have another friend that has one (in a carpeted car with no leaks) and it feels the same. No coating or anything, but it still seems to have a sort of shine that mine never had, and all he says he does for treatment is to wipe it down with a microfiber cloth every now and then.
Not sure sure about a warranty, but I will be calling them.

well I bought this one from an ebay retailer, JHPUSA. Came in a Skunk2 box and has the laser etched Skunk2 logo on the side.

Well just called skunk2 and they say its under warranty for a defect exchange. Great customer service, thanks Brain N!! He said it may be down to the coating to being sufficient.

I thought the Skunk2 ***** were billet..? Aluminum doesn't rust. Mine's over a year old and still shines like new.
Edit: billet stainless steel with pvd titanium coating. not aluminum... oh. nevermind, withdrawn.
