what the hell is a skunk2 P73 ECU. never heard of it. P73 ECUs however do not get u anything besides a higher redline. but if u get a skunk2 ECU it will help out. made a big difference in my car but my motor is built.

the "chip" will run the same in whatever ECU you run. So for example if you have a Mugen chip in a P72 and a Mugen chip in a P28 it will run the exact same way.

P73 is an OBDII ECU which is expensive to chip and rather rare in chipped form, also skunk2 doesn't sell chipped OBDII ecus.

if you have a 00 Si, your best option is to find a P61 or P30 ecu in stock form or chipped, or simply a chipped P08/P28 or P91 or other JDM sohc vtec variant of an ecu. remember that a obdII (99-00) harness converter to OBDI will be required.

for cheap harness look for Blown90Hatch -$170 shipped
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=211171

cheap ecus with lots of options and chips look in my sig (thats me) - P08/P91 at $195 shipped - P28s at $199 shipped (includes chipping + three chips/programs)

hmm, maybe I am getting ripped off them, cause i talked to a guy about getting either a skunk2 or jun ec, he said p73, but who knows, with a obd2-1 adapter.

I got a price of 425 total, chipped w/ harness, how does that sound?

heres what i would do if i were u. first id buy eg6ajk (adrians) ECU already chipped. i can attest to the programs he has and the addition they gave to my motor. then i would get the OBD2-OBD1 adapter and plug the SOB in. u will spend about the same but u will have a great program and 2 others to choose from.
straight from my own personal experience. i bought adrians "do it yourself" kit. we installed the skunk2 program and the car was a totally different car. at our local 1/8th mile strip, i ran stock P72 ECU w/VAFC (my chipped ECU wasnt done yet). the best i could get outta my car was a 8.7 @80mph. the next weekend, i had the chipped ECU and i went from that 8.7best down to a 8.3@84MPH in the 1/8th. u may not get these kind of results cause my motor is fully built, but thats just how good it worked for me. i would highly recommend adrians programs to anyone for the simple fact THAT THEY WORK.

spoon program is very similiar to stock but with lower rev limit (like a stock JDM P30 ecu)
the Mugen is a P28 ECU thats chipped

best combo for you would be PYR, Mugen, for racing and XS for street driving

I have a FF-special.1 proggy on my P72 and it is hella better than stock. The FF-special is very similar to the Mugen program. I have a B18C1 with a skunk2 manifold. I still need a VAFC to fine tune the fuel because it runs rich but its a definite upgrade.

So i'm thinkin about going with either a p28 chipped with a harness obd2-1 or getting hondata, how much is it to usually tune a hondata, and is it hard to install compared to the p28 with harness.

Anyone have experience, im looking for costs, and what is better someone with experience

just to let you know hondata system is basically a chipped P28 ecu (usually, since its the cheapest), where you have the options to change variables (ie. chips) but to do so it needs a dyno time tuning, and stage 4 system....harness converter will also be required...

from the test on mild applications, hondata tuned ecu vs mugen or best preforming chip usually only did within 2whp eitherway

for hondata you will need P28 stock = $150-200 + harness converter =$170-250 + choose a stage (ie. 1-4) $250-850 + dyno time = $100-400
