Ok so I haven't seen this on here anywhere so im going to make one or at least try lol
Here's the steps to installing a Intake Manifold
The tools your going to need are:
Needle nose Pliers
Flat Head Screw Driver
10mm Wrench and Socket
12mm Wrench and Socket
Some long Extensions.

The Parts you need
New Throttle Body Gasket
New Intake Manifold Gasket
Longer Vac Line for the Fuel Pressure Regulator
A T for the Coolant Line
One Hose Clamp you can't use the Factory one on one coolant hose .
Now get to work lol
Step One: Remove the Fuel Pump Fuse & Start the car it will die mean no fuel pressure in the Fuel System, then pull the Battery cables off
Step Two: Remove Intake and fuel rail
Step Three: Start to remove all coolant lines and Sensors
Step Four: Remove the two bottom bolts under the intake
Step Five: Remove all 9 bolts
Step Six: Remove from the car
Step Seven: Remove what ever your going to use on the new IM Such as Throttle Body, Air Temp Sensor, IACV, and the Purge control solenoid then install on the new IM.
Repeat all steps to install
Make sure you Torque all the bolts down so u don't have Vacuum leaks
Now on some motors not on all. Mine is a 92 D16Z6 theres a Coolant line on the Driver side which makes it have an extra line when your getting close to getting done. This is where u make a T where the little coolant line goes into from the IM to the FITV so the Extra coolant line has a place.
Here You can see the T I made to make it work. Also heres that extra line I was talking about



Also When Install the Throttle Cable back on u can't put it back in the same spot cause it will make the motor Rev high. All I did with mine was flip it over and it worked. You might have to play with the Bolts on the Cable cause mine had a lot of slack on it. And last lol you have to bend it back a little bit so the cable isn't so pinched.


To Let Everyone Know how Hard or long it took. I would say it from a scale 1 to 10 it was a 4 for me and it took me as long as it took my Roommate to wash and wax His Del Sol

how did you get the IAT in the side of the intake manifold....i know on mine, inside that hold it had threads, and on the two smaller bolt holes, it had allen head screws in it?

Mine were just two Philips screws and I used a Power Drill and slowly took it out cause there really in their

sorry to answer your question, but for my setup i got a skunk2 pro series intake manifold (don't really know the diffrence between the regular and the pro series) with a B16a2 throttle body....i didn't really notice any power gains on the bottom end, but when i hit around 3,500 rpms, it really kicks up....it also makes my vtec crossover a little more agressive( knowing that SOHC vtec's are weak)....

Well your not going to feel anything because you didn't do everything that you need to so u can feel the real power your need to get a adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator, Bigger Injectors, Full Exhaust and Headers, A good Tune to make you feel the full power out of the Skunk2 IM

You wont need bigger injectors as someone previously suggested. Unless your producing 30% or more power than stock and your not going to get that with a d series w/ i/h/e unfortunately. A tune will however do you alot of good and help to add power pretty much everywhere in the power and torque curve, so I'd get an obd1 like a p28, chip it, tune it and call it a day.

great write up. i wish i would have read before i attempted installing mine. not sure if this is the right place to ask but anyways. i did this same install on my 95 del sol but i'm having a major problem. one of the bolts on the idle air control is hitting the base where the brake lines meet when i accelerate from a stop. does anyone know how to fix this clearance issue?

When the guy asked about the iat you said you took out the screws with a drill, but what about the threads in the center hole between the screws? Just drill that out too? And I installed mine but I had a lot of problems when I got it running. Rev'd WAY too high. I tried the air flow screw and the throttle isn't being stuck opened. Also I couldn't find a throttle positioning sensor (tps) so I didn't put one on and it runs horrible. No iat or tps on it you think I fix that and it'll run good?
