Re: (jeffk182)
skunk2 definately got a stronger spring rate, so you be the judge. if you seriously think you need a more rigid ride, then go for skunk2, but if you dont really want taht go with Eibach.
skunk2's are okay but i think eibach makes the best springs.

Re: (Pioneer162)
i had Skunk2 Coilovers and Eibach Ground Control Coilovers and Eibach's Pro Kit...
Skunk2 = stiff though but great ride, can't see anything wrong
Eibach/Ground Control = great ride also, softer than Skunk2
Eibach Pro Kit = inbetween, the drop sucks ... only about 1inch it rides okay...
I got H&R now and love it.. but i would go for Skunk2 but that's just me..

If the spring rates and dampers are the same, then the ride will be identical regardless of the brand.
The default spring rates for GC coilovers vs. the rates for Skunk2 are not the same however - Skunk2 has stiffer rates as default and will make for a more bumpy/stiff ride, albeit with less body roll and therefore better handling. If you order comparable custom spring rates for the GCs though, they will ride the same.

Actually this is not true.
Overall spring design including wire size and wire material will differ from company to company. This will cause a major difference in ride quality/charecteristics.

i havent tested either on a calibrated spring coil tester, nor ever used skunk2 springs myself, what i hear is that springs may vary at the least 5% to 10% of the stated value. the differences arent going to be as majorly different as simply having 2 different sets of spring rates, even if from different or same spring manufacturers, yet alone different spring length/diameter. so while taking into account vtecdoodoo's warning of difference in QUALITY of spring manufacturers, hookes law is still hookes law. what i think Targa is just emphasizing is that GC/ERS vs. Skunk2/noname brand default adjustable coilover kits DONT come with the same spring rate, which a lot of ppl dont seem to consider or even know or understand its value in terms of suspension characteristics when just simply comparing the two brands.
and furthermore, i'd like to point out that EVERYONE has the ability to CHOOSE your OWN "ride quality" (smooth, rough, tight, bouncy, orgasmic, whatever) when you are able to choose your own spring rates, which buying a GC kit allows you to do. and you are NOT simply locked down by manufacturer, or choosing between "race" or "street" or "pro" spring kits. quite frankly the answer is simple, you only have to go with GC and you have all the options you want.
but one last thing to mention, is that the quality of damper (shock absorber) is equally or maybe MORE IMPORTANT than spring rate in terms of providing a better "ride quality". which should be considered (first) when aiming for a specific ride.

We make Nascar spec springs that are required to be within .5% of quoted rate. Nobody can touch that
