Default skunk2 camber kit fn up my towers.........

yeh im a little pissed right now. i have a 97 ej8 with ground control coilovers w kyb agx struts. i have the skunk2 camber kit. i dont know the drop is. i have 205-40-16 tires. theres bout a finger tip between the tire and fender. the problem is i poped my hood and found four big *** circles in my shock tower. ive notice a lil popin out b4. but its been like 2 or 3 weeks since i popd the hood. now i have huge holes. is there ne way to fix the camber kit so it doesnt f up my shock towers. i dont want to raise it up cuz its not really that low. it has a great stance and handles well. any help please!!!!!!

how do you NOT know what the reason is? jesus.

your cars are LOW, you hit bumps, the upper control arm SLAMS into the shock tower, making the impressions. Either quit whining, raise your car, or get stiffer springs/suspension

why do u have a camber kit in the first place...
u said ur arent dropped that low

so whats the purpose of it

i dont see why people like u drop there cars & automatically think they have to get a camber kit or else...

Camber kits aren't really worth anything. With a good alignment and a moderately lowered car you will have no problems.

^Sounds right.

What happened to your lip? Did somebody go crazy and stick all of those sticker on, or did you do that?

Here's a photo of the dents on the race car. You can see the rust. It's had Skunk2 camber kit for about 3 years. We thought it was from wheel hop.
You need a camber kit if you drop the car 1 1/2" or more. Any Alignment shop will tell you that. That's if you want the have the aligment done correctly.

Welcome to the club man! The Skunk2 old style did the same thing to my EG. I am not slammed or even close to low, I have a H series in so I have to be jacked up at all time. Even with Tein Full Coilovers at the 2nd to hardest setting, the upper arm can still travel with a sudden bump in the road. What I did is where it poked through, just use your ballpeen hammer and TAP them back flush, tig weld back and grind flat, check for completely welded seam, and add some primer and some touch up paint, and wait for the next incident. I will definatley buy the newer upper balljoints from skunk2 when mine go bad.

You may want to use a Progress camber kit. IMO a much better set up. It uses the OEM upper arm and just changes the mounting point on the shock tower. We had them on the Orange car, but it was stolen.

This is BS!
Camber kits arent needed!
People feel that since their lowering their car they automatically need to waste money on a camber kit.
Which is wrong!

Just admit
Your an **** *** who got a camber kit just so your tires wouldnt slant inward!
If you wanna fix ur problem put ur stock uca's back on & get an aligment.

A lil camber isnt gonna hurt anything as long as your toe is set to spec.

im tuckin tire on my ek

which means im dropped lower than you & i dont have -3 degrees of camber

<----
-2.5F
-2.9R

Been this way for over 6 months without any tire wear issues

So to solve ur problem
Re-install ur stock uca's
Get an alignment & have them set ur toe to spec

& FYI next time read a lil in the suspension section
this camber causing tire wear myth has been covered many times
